What is eDiscovery?
Discovery is the process of obtaining evidence by the parties involved in a lawsuit (civil or criminal) in the pre-trial stage. This evidence can be documents, photos, videos, audios, phone calls, bank transactions, among others.
With
the ever-increasing rise of computer technology, networks, and the Internet,
most evidence is stored on computers, servers, databases, mobile devices, and
cloud computing, so the process of obtaining evidence that consists of electronically
stored information (ESI) is called eDiscovery and one
of its branches is digital forensics that is aimed at
identifying, acquiring, processing, analyzing, and reporting evidence.
